We will continue to work on the East-West Trail design. The next milestone is 90% design completion, which will include pedestrian-level lighting for the bridge over Dairy Creek.
Our required permits for trail improvements have been submitted to the Army Corps of Engineers, Department of State Lands, and Department of Environmental Quality.
We have submitted our permit for land use to Washington County. We will submit land use permit requests to the cities of Hillsboro and Forest Grove in the coming weeks.
Due to funding limitations, the East-West Trail street crossings will be designed after the trail improvements.
- Street crossings will be designed once the trail design is finished.
- Separate permits will be requested for street crossings.
- All street crossings will include lighting.
- Two additional open houses are planned.
The trail and street crossings will be built at the same time. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026, or once the street crossing designs are completed. A construction kick-off event is planned.
Funding restrictions do not allow for amenities. Additional funding is needed for benches, restrooms, bike repair and dog stations.
